Seattle’s Other Coffee Companies

Seattle is a city known for its coffee culture and that coffee culture is invariably intertwined with Starbucks. It is the most famous coffee business in town, but its popularity tends to drown out the smaller businesses around it. There are a lot of coffee companies in Seattle known for their roasting techniques and flavors and dedicated local customers. If you’re a coffee aficionado, you will definitely want to try a cup of coffee from one of these three coffee companies during your next trip to Seattle.

Caffe Vita

Sustainable coffee roasted in small batches creates the well-known taste of Caffee Vita’s blends. Their drip coffee with just a dash of cream and sugar is incredibly smooth, and may just convince you to buy a pound of beans so you can experience the coffee at home too. Started locally in 1995, Caffe Vita now has six locations in Seattle as well as in Olympia, New York, Portland, and Los Angeles. Caffe Vita has many different bean blends, of which my favorites are the Sumatro Gayo River Single Origin Roast and the Theo Blend partnered with the fellow Seattle company Theo Chocolate. I recommend visiting the Pioneer Square location during a weekday to enjoy a cup of coffee along with some brick oven pizza from Pizzeria Napoletana, which shares the store with Caffe Vita.

Herkimer Coffee

Herkimer Coffee employees sure know how to create tasty, perfectly pulled shots of espresso! Their great brew comes from small farms that grow the coffee in the shade without pesticides or fertilizers. The owners travel to coffee growing areas of the world, like El Salvador, Brazil, and Kenya, to make sure they only the best coffee. Their craft extends into the quality of the roasting process, and you might find their coffee at well-known restaurants around the Seattle area – like Café Juanita in Kirkland. Visit one of three cozy locations in Phinney Ridge, Ravenna, and Dexter.

Espresso Vivace

Espresso Vivace lures in its customers with slow-roasted espresso that features sweet notes of caramel in every sip. Visit this café and its baristas will impress you with their beautiful latte art skills. If you aren’t a latte lover, try their caramel macchiato! Their high-end brewing technology is what contributes to their well-known drinks and lattes. Espresso Vivace has two walk-in locations in Capitol Hill and South Lake Union, and they also have a walk-up coffee stand in Capitol Hill.

After a cup of coffee at one of these cafes, you’ll understand why Seattleites all have coffee addictions!
